Adventure Idaho - Whitewater Rafting (Crew)

3 Days of River Rafting with https://www.adventureidahorafting.com/riggins-youth-raftingcamp

Our guides (Reegan, Claudia, and Macie) were the best guides in the world.  Shout out to them!!!

Campout & Service Project

The campout was a great success.  Lots of fun.  Good food.  And merit badges along the way.

Made and ate ice cream while helping a friend.

Biking Merit Badge

We started our biking merit badge. We have been riding all over the place and finding all the fun bike trails. We have completed the 10 and 15 mile rides and are working up to our 25 milers and the 50 miler.

Pioneering Projects

We had a lot of fun playing with Garth's homemade forge to make our own custom tent pegs and building and making pool noodle swords. It all ended with a huge pioneering night and competition.

American Fork Parade

We were asked to carry banners and help out the city at the parade. We also put in the Scoutmobile and handed out flyers. Come join us. We would love to have more scouts to have adventures with.

Webelos Game Day

We hosted a Webelos Game Day for six different Webelos groups in our area so they can finish their Scouting Adventure. So many games to play and lots of new people to meet.

Kayaking and Canoeing

We had a ton of fun kayaking and canoeing at Highland Glen park.

Klondike

At Klondike, we took 3rd place this year.

That was a long climb up to the top of the Zipline.

Landon on the Zipline

We used half a rope and didn't need anything besides that to burn through a string held 2 feet away.

3rd Place prize
Thanks to Garth for showing us his science demonstration. It was truly explosive.
Thanks to Eric for sharing his collection of comics, NERF guns, and other assorted doodads with the crew.
Thanks to Aileen for sharing her musical talent with us, and for teaching us how to make crepes. We learned about a huge variety of different instruments, and culminated the activity with a crepe making demonstration.

With the Yuletide season approaching, crew 1098 has dedicated the month of December to service. We spent several activities making blankets for a local hospital.
The crew learned how to make rope this month. After starting with sisal twine, the crew-members ended with 3/4 inch thick rope. We also ended up going ice skating, and had a great time out on the ice.

We have spent the last month teaching the troop the wilderness survival merit badge. We also went to our wilderness survival outpost, and spent three days, in frigid weather with snow on the ground, practicing our wilderness survival skills. Luckily the south slope did not have quite as much snow.
